Tom’s background is in Westminster, having worked as a Parliamentary Researcher to City of Durham MP Roberta Blackman-Woods where he provided strategic support in her capacity as Parliamentary Private Secretary to the then Secretary of State for Defence, the Rt. Hon. Des Browne MP. 

Tom also held the position of Senior Parliamentary Researcher to Anthony Wright, Member of Parliament for Great Yarmouth up until the 2010 General Election. In this role Tom assisted Mr Wright with his wide remit of duties as a member of the House Business, Innovation and Skills Committee.

In his current position of Political Consultant at Interel Tom supports other members of the defence team, using his extensive knowledge of defence issues to provide strategic briefings and intelligence as well as a weekly defence newspaper for clients. He graduated from Goldsmiths College, University of London, with a BA Honours degree in Politics.

Tom has also been selected as one of 7 members to sit on the Steering Committee of RUSI's Under-35 Forum. The Committee will arrange thought-provoking events and lectures as well as ensuring the day-to-day running of the Forum, which is intended to provide unique events and educational opportunities for young members of one of the world's foremost defence and security think-tanks.
